“The People’s Education Society’s objective is not merely to give education but to give education in such a manner as to promote intellectual moral and social democracy. This is what modern India needs and this is what all well wishers of India must promote.”

Bharat Ratna Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.

Welcome one and all to Siddharth College of Law family. Dr. Ambedkar firmly believed in education as a weapon to win the battle against discrimination of every kind. He regarded education as a nation-building activity as a powerful lever for the uplift of the unprivileged class. Academic excellence is, beyond doubt, the greatest equalizer. On 8 th July, 1945, In order to make available education especially higher education among the poor depressed classes of the society, the great founder father of the Constitution of India Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar established the People’s Education Society. The importance of education in human life was known to him very well as a disciple of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule. The motto of Dr. Ambedkar behind this was his vision towards education as a true means of re-constructing the new social order based on equality, freedom, justice and fraternity and an academic intellectual revolution on the order. The dreamer dreamt of an institution where the students would hold their heads high and awake into the world of knowledge, prosperity and dignity and would strive hard to achieve the goal of socio-economic democracy in the country. In order to provide legal education to the poor and unprivileged class of the society, so that they may have adequate representation in the field of law and judiciary. The Siddharth College of Law was started on 25 th June, 1956. The College completed its glorious existence of fifty years last year. During the last fifty years, the College has offered a tribute to its founder Dr. Ambedkar by producing a number of scholars and legal luminaries of national repute.

During its journey of the last fifty years, the college has stood the trials and tribulation that time threw in its path and has emerged out with glory & is marching on ahead with a confidence untainted. Great personalities have contributed to its magnificent fractioning by being on the merit rolls either as members of the teaching staff or as students.

Our students have brought to the college not only many coveted trophies, awards and scholarships in academics but they have also lined up the shelves of the college cupboards with such “objects of aspiration” which shimmer in grand glory won in every field of sports and in all sports of artistic pursuits. During this fifty years it is notable that the eminent jurists visited this esteemed institution.

Dr. Ambedkar himself started morning/evening batches in 1956 to accommodate all the students who were earners and learners and they preferred as well as desiring to study law. It was the first step of this nature and made accessible the legal education to learners even. With such a glorious path we have completed 50 years and today Siddharth College of Law is having its own identity in legal education.
